Male Ginger Cats outnumber Ginger Female Cats

Orange colored cats, also known as ginger or marmalade cats, are more likely to be male cats. Female cats have two X chromosomes and male cats have one X chromosome and a Y chromosome. The gene which produces an orange color is found on an X chromosome, therefore female cats would need two copies of the ginger gene, where male cats only need one.
